Pedestrian Killed by Ice Cream Truck in Brockton – Wrongful Death
Authorities said that police are conducting an investigation after a man was killed in an accident with an ice cream truck in Brockton on Thursday night.
Timothy Cruz, Plymouth District Attorney, stated that Brockton Police received a 911 report reporting a collision involving a pedestrian near the intersection of North Main Street and Huntington streets at 6:44 p.m.
Cruz stated that Joao Fernandes had suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle. First responders arrived to find him. Fernandes (54 years old) was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was declared dead.
The driver of Mel’s ice cream truck pulled over at the scene. Cruz stated that he is not being identified.
The investigation is being carried out by the Massachusetts State Police detectives, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services.
